17 conduct reviewers appointed for Bega Valley councillor and staff matters through 2030
Legal, workplace and governance providers will form the council’s regional panel for code-of-conduct reviews until 30 June 2030.
Bega Valley Shire Council has appointed 17 providers to a regional panel for reviewing councillor and council-staff code-of-conduct matters through 30 June 2030.
The panel will cover the period from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030 and includes legal firms, workplace specialists and governance consultants. The providers are Centium Pty Ltd, Klaass & Co Pty Ltd, KordaMentha Pty Ltd, KPMG, Maddocks, McCabes Lawyers Pty Ltd, McCullough Robertson, Mediate Today Pty Ltd, O’Connor Marsden & Associates, Omedia Pty Ltd trading as Workdynamic Australia, Pendlebury Workplace Law, Riske Business Consultants P/L, Riskwise Consulting Pty Ltd, Shaw Reynolds Lawyers Pty Ltd, SINC Solutions Pty Ltd, Weir Consulting Pty Ltd and Wise Workplace Services trading as Wise Workplace.
The appointment followed an expression-of-interest process completed by the Canberra Region Joint Organisation to establish a regional panel of conduct reviewers.
All eight councillors present supported the appointment, with no votes against. Cr Mudaliar was absent for the vote after leaving during the item. Crs Allen, Daly, Fitzpatrick, Haggar, Nadin, Noble, O’Neil and Porter voted in favour.
The panel gives Bega Valley Shire Council access to the recommended providers when a conduct matter requires external review. It covers matters involving councillors and council staff under the applicable code-of-conduct arrangements.
The resolution also records that a formal council resolution is not required for a council or joint organisation to enter into a shared panel arrangement. The arrangement must be authorised by a person with the appropriate delegation and have the concurrence of the other participating council or joint organisation.
Future shared-panel arrangements can be progressed administratively under appropriate delegation. The resolution refers to the Office of Local Government’s Administration Procedures for the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW and the council’s adopted delegations.
