Bega Valley Shire Council has deferred determination of Development Application 2021.360 for an extractive industry, quarry, at 1399 Sapphire Coast Drive, Wallagoot.

According to the 22 April 2026 council minutes, councillors resolved to delay the decision so staff can prepare a supplementary report addressing relevant additional matters raised at the public forum held that day.

The minutes show council heard speakers both against and for the proposal during the public forum before voting to defer the item.

A petition tabled at the meeting from Stop Bournda Quarry Inc, containing more than 800 signatures, asked councillors to reject the quarry and rock processing proposal. The minutes state staff will provide a further report back to council on the petition under the Code of Meeting Practice.
