Bega Valley Council maps public water bubblers across the Shire
Staff are recording the type and location of existing bubblers to give Council a clearer asset register for future maintenance planning.
Residents and visitors will have a clearer record of public drinking-water infrastructure as Bega Valley Shire Council continues documenting the type and location of existing water bubblers across the Shire.
Councillors received and noted a report on the work, which is being carried out as part of Council’s asset inventory. The resolution passed without opposition.
The inventory is focused on establishing what bubbler infrastructure already exists and where it is located. That information will improve Council’s knowledge of public drinking-water assets and support future maintenance planning.
The work covers existing bubblers across the Shire. The material before Council did not approve new installations, replacements or removals at particular sites.
It also did not set a completion date or identify a separate budget for the inventory. Staff will continue recording information about the bubblers through Council’s asset-management processes.
The report was considered under Council’s infrastructure business. Cr David Porter was absent for the item, while Cr Tony Allen was absent from the meeting.
The inventory is intended to give Council a more reliable basis for managing public drinking-water facilities. Recording each bubbler’s type and location can help staff identify the assets Council is responsible for when future maintenance planning is undertaken.
No changes to individual bubbler sites were approved. The immediate work is to build the record of infrastructure already in place across Bega Valley Shire.
