Eden sewerage plant project sent back to market after all tenders rejected
Bega Valley Shire Council will seek new bids for the Eden Sewerage Treatment Plant drying-bed renewal after approving an adjusted scope of works.
Contractors and local suppliers will face a fresh tender process for the Eden Sewerage Treatment Plant drying-bed renewal after Bega Valley Shire Council rejected all bids for the project.
The council resolved to reapproach the market with an adjusted scope of works under clause 178 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021. The Chief Executive Officer was authorised to execute the required procurement documents and advise all tenderers of the decision.
The drying-bed renewal is part of the plant’s sewerage infrastructure. The revised procurement approach will determine how the project proceeds, but council did not state a replacement cost or date for the new tender process.
The resolution passed with eight votes in favour and none against. Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick and councillors Tony Allen, Simon Daly, Peter Haggar, Clair Mudaliar, Peggy Noble, Helen O’Neil and David Porter voted for the resolution. Deputy Mayor Mitchell Nadin was absent.
Council will revise the project scope before approaching the market again. No successful contractor has been appointed.
The tender was identified as RFT 2526-062. The resolution also authorised the CEO to complete all necessary documentation connected with that request and required all tenderers to be notified.
The project affects the procurement pathway for renewal work at Eden’s sewerage treatment plant. Further details on the adjusted scope, project cost and timing were not stated.
