Decisions

Truck prohibition approved for Carrington Road at Carr Street

Council was recommended to approve installation of a 'Trucks Prohibited (R6-10-2)' sign on Carrington Road at Carr Street, banning trucks of 4.5 tonnes GVM and above to reduce conflict and improve road safety.

Should reduce heavy vehicle traffic and improve safety for nearby residents and road users.

Topics

Traffic and pedestrian safety investigations ordered

Council asked staff to investigate a pedestrian crossing on Victoria Road, Marrickville, and a range of safety improvements on Carrington Road cycleway.

Could lead to new crossings, safer cycling conditions and traffic changes.

Charing Cross Streetscape Upgrade SP2

A motion to restart SP2 footpath works at Six Ways was defeated after a tied vote. A foreshadowed motion was then carried noting past decisions, project costs, that Bronte Road up to Carrington Road and Victoria Street will be made good after SP1, and that defect rectification is underway.

Residents and businesses in Charing Cross will see remediation and completion works rather than a restart of the broader SP2 upgrade at this stage.

Intersection review at Howard Street, Carr Street and Carrington Road

A resident requested a review of the intersection and kerb and gutter extension, with transport providers noting any changes must consider bus swept paths.

May affect road layout, drainage and bus movements at a local traffic pinch point.
