Scenic Rim votes 4-3 to keep Grahams Dip Road unsealed

Scenic Rim Regional Council has replaced its December resolution to upgrade Grahams Dip Road, voting 4-3 at its Beaudesert meeting to keep the Biddaddaba road on the maintenance schedule as an unsealed road.

Scenic Rim Regional Council has replaced its 10 December 2025 resolution to upgrade Grahams Dip Road to a 5D standard, voting 4-3 at its ordinary meeting in Beaudesert to add the full road length to the road register as an unsealed road and include it in the council maintenance schedule.

The road is in Biddaddaba. The amended resolution changes the council position from an upgrade project to ongoing maintenance of the full length as an unsealed road.

The Grahams Dip Road item sat within a wider transport agenda that was partly delayed. Council deferred the Integrated Transport Plan to a future ordinary meeting by procedural motion.

That plan covers active transport, walking and the road network across the Scenic Rim region.

The minutes say the previous Grahams Dip Road resolution, passed on 10 December 2025, had been to upgrade the road to a 5D standard. That resolution was replaced on Wednesday.

For residents and road users in Biddaddaba, the road will now be listed on council’s road register as unsealed and included in the maintenance schedule.

The meeting also followed a January ordinary meeting where a motion to repeal the December Grahams Dip Road resolution was deferred. The issue returned to the table on 25 February, and councillors settled it with the 4-3 vote.

Elsewhere in the same meeting, council endorsed the draft Canungra Town Centre Master Plan for community consultation, adopted councillor remuneration from 1 July 2026, and received the January 2026 financial report.

Council also accepted the Tropical Cyclone Alfred Disaster Management and Recovery Review After-Action Report prepared by Capire, adopted a new Ex-Gratia Payments Policy, approved the internal audit policy framework, and agreed to submit motions to the 2026 Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly.

In confidential business, council resolved to proceed with sale of land action for listed overdue-rates properties and delegated further steps to the chief executive officer under the Local Government Regulation 2012.
